D'origine portoricaine, Jennifer Lopez prend des cours de chant et de danse dès l'âge de 5 ans et suit une scolarité dans des établissements catholiques. C'est à 18 ans qu'elle prend la décision de se lancer dans le monde du spectacle. Elle débute alors dans la série télévisée In living colors (1990). Après plusieurs autres essais sur le petit écran et une apparition non créditée au générique de My family en 1995, elle se fait remarquer au cinéma aux côtés de Woody Harrelson et Wesley Snipes dans le thriller d'action Money train. Elle impose son charme hispanique et ses formes deux ans plus tard dans U-Turn, ici commence l'enfer (1997) d'Oliver Stone.

Variant ses compositions, elle est Selena (id.), dans un drame biographique sur la vie de cette chanteuse mexicaine populaire, se retrouve aux prises avec un terrifiant reptile dans Anaconda (id.), puis forme un couple torride avec George Clooney dans le polar Hors d'atteinte (1998). La belle excelle bientôt dans deux registres : la comédie romantique, où elle apparaît comme la célibataire en quête du grand amour (Un mariage trop parfait, Coup de foudre à Manhattan), et le thriller, où elle incarne une jeune femme au caractère bien trempé (The Cell, Angel eyes, Plus jamais).

En 2002-2003, sa relation amoureuse avec Ben Affleck défraye la chronique. Rencontrés sur le plateau de tournage d'Amours troubles, ils se donnent une nouvelle fois la réplique dans la romance Père et fille en 2003. Après leur rupture et son mariage avec le chanteur Marc Anthony, elle revient en force en 2005 avec pas moins de trois longs métrages où elle donne la réplique à des monstres sacrés du cinéma américain comme Richard Gere à qui elle enseigne le tango dans Shall we dance ? La Nouvelle vie de Monsieur Clark, Jane Fonda en qui elle voit une belle-mère redoutable dans Sa mère ou moi, et Robert Redford qui la tient pour responsable de la mort de son fils dans Une vie inachevée de Lasse Hallström.

La diva latino Jennifer Lopez et son ex mari Noa Ojani se sont retrouvés, une fois de plus, devant le juge afin de clarifier une situation pesante pour la chanteuse.

Noa Ojani voudrait publier un livre contenant le récit de sa vie intime avec Jennifer Lopez. Jennifer Lopez n'est pas d'accord et elle avait déjà obtenu gain de cause en 2005.

Lundi, le juge a estimé que le jugement rendu en 2005 devait rester en vigueur et a donc débouté l'ex mari de Jennifer Lopez. Il n'a pas le droit de publier un livre parlant de ses rapports avec Jennifer Lopez sous peine d'une amende de 10 millions de dollars.
